In the battle for November, several state political parties have recently endorsed cannabis initiatives that will soon go before the voters.

In Florida, the state Democratic Party has officially endorsed Amendment 2, which would legalize the use of medical marijuana. Along with the endorsement, the Florida Democrats donated $150,000 to United For Care, the local group campaigning for medical legalization.

According to Yes on 2 campaign manager Ben Pollara, the organization is working together with the Florida Democratic Party on a voter registration operation. It’s an effort to get more people to the polls, and it’s got to be done soon. The deadline for registering new voters in Florida is next Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Earlier today, the backers of Arizona’s Prop. 205 announced a wide variety of political endorsements, including several progressive, conservative, and libertarian individuals and organizations. The Arizona Democratic Party officially endorsed Prop. 205, while U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva became the second member of the state’s congressional delegation to throw his support behind the measure (after Rep. Ruben Gallego).

“The Arizona Democratic Party proudly supports Prop. 205,” said Arizona Democratic Party Chair Alexis Tameron. “Regulating marijuana like alcohol will enhance public safety, promote social justice, and improve our education system by raising much-needed revenue for schools. These values are shared by Arizonans of all political persuasions, and it is my hope that they will vote ‘yes’ on Prop. 205.”

Prop. 205 also picked up endorsements from the other side of the political spectrum, which included the La Paz County Republican Committee, the Arizona Liberty Caucus, Arizona Libertarian Party Chairman Michael Kielsky, and former Arizona Senate Majority Leader Dr. Tom Patterson.
