It looks like Nevada’s legalization efforts are paying off! The Battle Born State is earning its nickname, becoming the first state to officially have a recreational marijuana legalization initiative on the ballot for the 2016 general election.
Nevada state lawmakers had the option to take action on the initiative, which has already collected nearly twice the required number of signatures to qualify for the upcoming election. Legislators failed to take action during this legislative session — while this sounds like bad news, it’s actually not.
Why, you ask? Because now the initiative is officially in the hands of the voters!
With the support of over 200,000 voters who signed the petition to put legalization on the ballot and an estimated 54% of Nevada voters supporting the legalization of recreational cannabis, it’s looking highly likely that Nevada will, in fact, be the next state in line to legalize recreational cannabis.
