Looking for an open cannabis store in Northwest Territories on Oct. 17, Canada’s Legalization Day? We’ve got you covered.
The N.W.T. government is relying on three cannabis supply companies for their product: Aurora Cannabis, High Park, and Canopy Growth. The government has purchased 30 kilograms of cannabis in anticipation of post-legalization demand.
Five liquor stores in N.W.T. will start selling cannabis on Oct. 17. Liquor stores in Norman Wells, Hay River, Fort Simpson, Fort Smith, and Yellowknife will sell cannabis to adults 19 and older. After discussions with the territorial government, the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation — part owners of the liquor store in Inuvik — will not be selling cannabis.
For those living in the N.W.T.’s 28 other communities, cannabis can be ordered online through a territorial government-operated web site. Canada Post will deliver direct to the consumers. It’s not clear whether the web site will be open on Oct. 17.
