Gone are the days of cartoonish styles, low-quality materials, and stiff price-points—times have changed, and so have standards.Join the Leafly Canada CommunityWith that, we’ve rounded up some stash solutions designed by leading Canadian brands: Maitri, Milkweed, Tokyo Smoke, and Hotbox. Let’s see how they measure up!

Maitri Karuna Airtight Jar, $64.98

Available exclusively at Tokyo Smoke, Quebec’s Maitri prides itself on “local craftsmanship”. The Karuna jar surely embodies those values—ceramists mold each piece by hand, and the cherry wood lid is made by skilled woodworkers.

Although aesthetically pleasing, does it adequately contain the smell of cannabis whilst keeping it fresh as can be? Indubitably, as the inside is coated with miron UV glass. Overall, Karuna delivers on its promises, however, it could be a little larger in size. Cool bonus: you can specify the herb strain on the ceramic body using chalk.

Milkweed Road Trip Kit, $245

This Toronto-based brand is all about thoughtful craft and ritual – and it shows. Although the Road Trip Kit will cost you a pretty penny, the quality is fantastic. The Italian vegetable-tanned leather is water resistant, incredibly durable and not to mention, multi-purpose.

You can fit your vape, papers, grinder, lighter, a little stash tin, what have you. The kit is finished off with a wrap cord to secure your favourite tools. It’s evident that a lot of care and pride went into the creation of this handmade piece.

Hotbox’s clutch-inspired pouch can best be described as a product of fashion meets function. Available in six colours and two sizes, this piece is made with vegan leather and a custom carbon-lined “Louis-V style Hotbox liner.” There’s also a chain bracelet handle, which adds a little shine. What’s more, it’s quite spacious—you can even fit a rolling tray, along with other key accessories.

When it comes to containing odour, this pouch does the job. It won’t fully block out the skunkiest of weed, but it’s undoubtedly a solid piece for the bold fashionista.

Tokyo Smoke Tank Storage Jar, $65

Believe it or not, Tokyo Smoke’s Smoke Tank Storage jar is made of repurposed fire extinguishers, which likely accounts for its durability. The minimalist design chiefly focuses on keeping your herbs fresh and terpy.

The brand recommends storing flower as opposed to ground cannabis in order to maintain optimal freshness, and there’s plenty of room for it in the spacious jar. So does it live up to its claims? Pretty much.

Maitri Pouch (Flower), $25.98

maitri storage

This pouch is advertised as a “multi-purpose bag” made from Tyvek, a durable material sourced from recycled plastic, and often used for construction. Many brands have taken a strong stance when it comes to using sustainable materials, so kudos for that, as well as the beautiful floral design.

A few gripes with this particular pouch: although the material is technically durable, it feels a little flimsy for storage, almost like crinkled kraft paper; and secondly, the zipper is very standard. Now if you’re looking for odour-blocking properties, this may not be the pouch for you. In essence, it’s a cute piece for the “on-the-go” consumer. It’s more ideal for a vape, oils, topicals, edibles, what have you.

Overall, a bit pricey given the quality—but stylish nonetheless.
