NY’s dankest flower brands
NY’s legal flower supply is better than ever. Dozens of great farms and indoor grows are now up and running. Here are some of New York’s favorite flower brands.
Heady Tree
According to cannabis sales data platform Headset, Heady Tree is one of New York’s bestselling cannabis brand, namely the strain Blue Lobster. Blue Lobster was bred by Maine Trees, drawing on two strains from the acclaimed Compound Genetics, and has made waves on the cannabis cup circuit and pages of weed magazines alike. It’s a testament to Heady Tree’s eye for unique terpene profiles and strains that don’t always get the hype that the Gelatos and Diesels do.
Their offerings of flower eighths, quarters, half-ounces and prerolls include numerous strains we’ve highlighted throughout the year, like Blue Zushi, Glitterbomb, our 2024 Strain of the Year Super Boof, Peach Pie, and Tangie Colada.
Rec Roots
Rec Roots is a relatively new brand, though it’s played a part in New York’s cannabis and hemp markets since 2018. Their part in the state’s pilot hemp research program gave them the information that buoyed their brand as the laws changed. Their flower is collaborative, taking input and knowledge from a diverse team whose collective goal is to stay loud and provide loud.
Tarot Tokes
Tarot Tokes leans into the mysticism of cannabis. This woman-owned brand works with the cultivator Java Sprout Farm to curate strains that complement various cards from the Tarot deck. Tarot is a centuries-old practice that uses cards and their meanings to tell people’s fortunes or clarify aspects of their lives, and cannabis can work much in the same way. Each strain embodies the card on the packaging; one of their most popular offerings, the sativa-dominant Lilac Diesel, is The Sun card, which reflects its vitality and energizing effects. Others on their roster: Chemdog (The Emperor), RS11 (The Chariot), and Sour Hour (The Fool).
Space Cow
Space Cow was one of the first flower options on dispensary shelves, and after a hiatus they’ve returned with a brand new name but the same quality flower. Their flower offerings stick to well-loved flavors that both new users and oldheads can enjoy. Think Ice Cream Cake, Gazzurple, and 707 Headband.
To The MOON
Budtenders across New York state love To The MOON for delivering potent indoor bud in a market that’s been starving for high-quality flower. The combination of quality, and guerrilla marketing have made them one of New York’s most visible brands. More success lies in store for this fast-rising brand going if they keep delivering fire flower to the shelves. Find To The MOON near you.
New York’s hottest edible brands
Don’t have time to roll up and smoke? New York dispensaries are carrying some incredible edible products that come in all forms. Gummies, tinctures, and cooking essentials are all on the menu. Here are some of our favorites for you to try on your next visit.
Ruby Farms
Ruby Farms does it all—flower, oils, joints, and especially edibles. Their regenerative practices, what they call “soil to oil” or farm to table, manifest in how they formulate their fruit drops, with formulations that pair cannabinoids with vitamins and superfoods. These vegan gummies each come with a unique infusion, like lion’s mane mushrooms or zinc so both the body and mind get a holistic experience with every bite. Their rosin vapes and flower are also worth a gander.
Chef for Higher
New York’s first culinary lifestyle brand was founded by BIPOC and women entrepreneurs well before 2021—legacy to legal. Chef for Higher launched April 19 last year on the adult-use market with the release of the Cooking Essentials (coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, honey, and ghee), the first of its kind in New York’s legal dispensaries. Chef for Higher also offers jellies, as well as B2B services and curated dining experiences.
Off Hours
Off Hours is a brand that embodies downtown Manhattan—it’s cool, it’s edgy, and its products hit. Off Hours has made ripples before with its colorful, nightclub-inspired packaging and products that exude chic. They formulate all their gummies in ratios of various cannabinoids for a feeling-focused experience paired with fruity flavors. Their vapes too, but you can choose from strain-specific options too.
Harney Brothers
We featured Harney Brothers in our round up of products for Dry January, but you can sip and smoke them all year long. This flower brand has carved out a special space in the market with its beverages. Harvey Brothers make all kinds of drinks, from single shots made from coffee or yuzu citrus to sparkling seltzers. Most interestingly, they also now produce infused tea bags, pairing a single dose edible with herbs and aromatics perfect to start your day or wind down your night.
NY concentrate brands to watch
Vapes, carts, and hashish from these brands are selling fast in New York dispensaries. Here are the concentrate providers that have New York budtenders and smokers in the clouds.
Urbanxtracts
What would Eleanor Roosevelt say if she knew a former reform school she spearheaded had become a full-fledged cannabis operation? Warwick, New York is now home to Urbanxtracts, a vertically-integrated cannabis concentrates brand.
They work with established brands like PAX, but also offer their own brand of flower, hash, vapes, and dabbables. Their cold cure rosin comes in the funkiest of flavors like Ayo (which they also offer as flower), Sour Kosher, and Guava Lato.
Jaunty
Jaunty is one brand under Naturae brands, a stable of cannabis products filling gaps in the market. Jaunty debuted with reliably potent vape cartridges (up to 90% THC), and have since expanded their formulas and delved into edibles. Their rosin-based vaporizers prove that whole-plant extracts don’t have to sacrifice potency for flavor, and vice versa.
Silly Nice
Not all concentrates have to be dabs. Silly Nice (at least for now) chooses to focus on concentrates that work best when paired with others: bubble hash and diamond THCa powder. You can technically consume these on their own, but they really bloom when rolled up with some flower or added to a dab that you want to punch up. In fact, you can buy a frosted hash ball too! If this sounds too niche, they also offer vape carts and their most unique product, a 2-gram disposable vape that tops 80% THC.
Olio
Olio, the Italian word for oil, wants you to have it your way. Olio offers all kinds of cannabis oil products, ranging from edibles to vapes to dabs. While they do produce plenty of BHO and live resin products, they stand out as one of the few options right now for solventless dabs in New York’s legal market right now. Their rosin is flavorful and full of THC, made from strains like

Mother Exotic Flower
Mother Exotic Flower was founded by New York native Sakara Barnes. “We are a part of the New York culture. From the art scene, the music, to fashion—we’re bringing that into cannabis and you’ll see it on the shelves, and at the events that are coming,” she told Leafly in 2022.
In 2016, Barnes left New York’s legacy market and went west to seek a cultivation license in California. “One of my homegirls got me one of the medical cards because she used to work downtown. It was a little paper that said I could grow cannabis. Back then, that was your license. You could grow up to 99 plants of weed.” Almost a decade later, Barnes is returning home as the boss of her own brand. Mother Exotic Flower.
“There are a lot of New York brands, but I don’t think there are a lot of legal brands right now. Because there are not a lot of legal cultivations that are able to serve the brands. New York has some great opportunity before it is oversaturated like the California. So we plan to partner with some growers and bring some really good genetics over to the New York market at a reasonable price.”

Spritz Flower
Queen Pee made her Pwincess Cutt strain a hit in Cali stores. Now, she’s coming for New York with her Spritz brand. She’s also taking Sluggers Hit to new levels as a marketing partner in key markets like New York. During a recent visit to Certz Lounge in Midtown, Queen Pee told Leafly that she was surprised by the large turnout and warm welcome she got while visiting growers upstate in Albany.
“My job out here is to take all the legacy of people who are brands like Certz who are about to go legal, and to help them cross over. Help them with marketing.”
Queen Pee, Spritz
Growing up, Queen Pee could never bring a B home to her strict military father; she’s still striving for straight A’s when it comes to her strains. Spritz has super-fruity, super-sweet terpene profiles. Candy and dessert strain lovers will want to grab Pancakes and Pineapple Cake. Meanwhile, Queen Pee is seeding Spritz and Sluggers partnerships with New York processors who want equity, exposure, and access to the big leagues.
