Planning a trip along the Oregon coast? Cannabis isn’t always easy to find out here, but this guide to Oregon’s coastal cannabis dispensaries will make it a breeze. Explore your cannabis options by city or plan your road trip through each city for the full experience.
The drive from Washington down to California along the 101 plays like feature-length car commercials intercut with early Gus Van Sant—a mostly two-lane highway etched into a dramatic meeting of mountains and ocean, desert, and timberland with the peaks and valleys punctuated by second-home beach communities and half-forgotten lumber towns that tanked when the local mills began shutting down back in the 70’s.
The Oregon coast is a landscape that’s easy to let your imagination wander into—lonely and iconic views that anyone would be lucky to experience firsthand.
If you’re looking for cannabis, planning ahead is the name of the game. That’s because in Oregon we have what are referred to as dispensary moratoriums wherein a county may ban cannabis businesses if at least 55% of that county voted ‘no’ on Oregon’s recreational cannabis bill.
Additionally, the coast is heavily scarred by the cratering of the local lumber industry, which left countless towns all but boarded up and abandoned. Simply put, there are places on the coast that don’t have a large enough population to support a dispensary.
For these reasons and others I’m sure I’m missing, lengthy stretches of the 101 are home to zero cannabis stores. Lucky for you, I made the drive down Oregon’s Pacific Coast Highway from Astoria to Humbug Mountain and plotted out the region’s herbal hotspots.
Welcome to your guide to Oregon’s cannabis coast.
