Budder

A Local Californian strain descending from the well-known Granddaddy Purple, and from a lesser known hybrid, "Green Ribbon." A fantastic Indica-dominant hybrid, with excellent multi-layered effects. Those ranging from a bodily sense of relaxation and content, to a very heady, and euphoric high. By "heady," I mean that it manifests very noticeably in the head with a pleasurable pressure. Its cerebral effect is different than that of a good Sativa. It's there, but to a lesser degree. Perhaps because those effects are experienced differently, in a more mellow way. This strain is comprised of hybrids within hybrids, so perhaps it would be keen to say that there are a number of different forces at work, in terms of the effects it provides. Perhaps the most notable of these effects is the absolute euphoria that arises. Very high-vibe strain in that way, and it sends your vibration through the roof. Made me insanely happy. In this way, it's perfect for treating stress and depression, while making it all too easy to find things to crack up about. It is a relaxing euphoria that makes you realize that you love everything, which is unbelievably uplifting. For me, I found it even very spiritually uplifting. The buds are very dense. When I first saw my new herb, I thought, "Jesus. This is an eighth?" Yes, it was weighed accurately, but a lot of that weight is in the density of the plant matter. Said plant matter is green to light green, modestly displaying small tinges of purple here and there. The smell is great. Probably the sweetest smelling herb I've sniffed. It is also very buttery smelling, hence the name. There are notes of fruitiness as well, but it's hard to say that it smells grape-y. Though, it does kind of smell like "purple," if you understand that flavor profile. The other attributes to its scent are hard to place. Great vaping experience. Easy on the way in, easy on the way out. Not as much lung expansion as some of my beloved Sativas. Fantastic herb.

Contrary to most reviews, I've had very mixed results with this strain. However, I believe that to be attributed to a number of different variables. Unfortunately, the quality of the bud I received fell below expectation, even in spite of the understanding that it was sun-grown. It was not dense. It was leafy, fluffy, soft, and perhaps not cured very well, because it didn't appear to be dried to completion. Too often would it fail the "stem test", as I call it. The stem material wouldn't always "snap", as I would expect from well-dried bud. Additionally, I found the herb rather difficult to separate from the stem. This, I believe, allowed for some unwanted stem material to get mixed in with my ground-up herb. This would seem to explain the unpredictable death-hits I would get, of which there were many. They very first time I hit it, I choked out. But regardless of those unpredictable stem-burning hits, it seemed overall a harsher toke. On occasion, it would be more friendly, but for the most part, ripping a Jay would be a bit of a chore. This is partially why I switched to vaping it. And what do ya know? It's 4:20 right now! Anyway, now for the effect. With some exception, I found this particular stuff's effect to be different than what I'd hoped for. Maybe if I had been working with a higher grade that was cured to perfection, I would have had a much better experience. There were only a few times in which I would smoke a Jay, or hit a freshly-packed vape, and recieve great feelings of content, and well-being. My awareness would seem to extend into my environment. At times, it would feel like I was in absolute harmony with my environment, and I'd feel as though I was experiencing myself from an expanded, more harmonious and connected perspective. This is the best thing I can say about my experience with this strain, but it was uncommon. The most common experience I had wasn't nearly as pleasurable. Of course, it would melt one's stress and anxiety upon inhaling, but the main effect, I found to be much less enjoyable than that of other Sativas. I would describe it as a pressure in one's head. A strong pressure, a heavy stoned feeling, and little else. In this case, I would describe it as a "heady" stone, but not very "cerebral". When I say cerebral, I essentially mean psychoactive. It was only really cerebral those few awesome times when it would surprise me. This heady pressure, and heavy stoned feeling would last for what seemed like FOREVER. Now, I'm sure that a long-lasting effect would be favorable to most smokers, but not for me, and not with the stuff I had. The thing is, most Sativas and hybrid strains I've tried have a pleasurable "gradient", as I like to describe it. This gradient often makes for a favorable progression of effects. Not only do you get to experience a variety of changing effects, but these changes help you to not feel so "stuck in time." Unfortunately, this strain did not have that variation. At least, not the bud I had. It was a relentlessly static, and enduring effect. Forget nighttime smoking with this stuff. It just lasted so damn long, and the taper was just the same effect on a painfully-slow decline. At times, especially when trying to sleep, I really felt suspended in time, and that really sucks. Someone described this strain as the "espresso" of weed, and with that, I would absolutely agree. It's a very strong head stone, but not one that I, personally, enjoyed.

Sour Diesel

This is one kick-ass Sativa. Seriously. It's just awesome all across the board. And although I'm no Cannabis connoisseur, this strain's effect has everything I look for, and almost nothing that I don't. Probably the most present side-effect is dry mouth, but that's to be expected. Dry eyes also follows, but to a lesser degree. However, I already have evaporative dry-eye to begin with. The last negative is that it's not so great when it's time for bed and you're still really high. It's awesome to smoke with friends when you're all hanging out at night time, but when it's time to hit the sack, you may have a hard time falling asleep if you're still too baked. If that's the case, you'll feel too mentally stimulated to really relax and fall asleep. The positives: Basically everything. Being a potent, pure Sativa, its wonderful cerebral effects kick in fast, but in stages. The first time I tried it, I hit it way too hard and frequently. It was the highest I had ever been on a Sativa, and it was so intense that it made me trip when I closed my eyes. Amazing sensations of connectedness and bursts of colorful energy. That was only once though. Normally, you'll feel great, stimulated, happy, uplifted, euphoric, sociable, connected, all that great stuff. Then there's the effect change. This gradient doesn't follow that of a typical hybrid strain. Those will generally start off laughy and cerebral, and end with the sleepy Indica part of it. Which, depending on the strains and their ratio, can be a great, well-rounded high. Sour Diesel, however, tapers differently. The first noticeable difference is its unmistakeable dreamy phase. You'll still be plenty awake, but it feels very surreal and dreamlike. The third phase in this gradient is spaaaaaaaacey. It's at this point that I find myself fixated on something or staring off into space without the desire to say much or pay close attention to the words of others. That would require more mental energy/concentration than you want to spend at this point. In this way, the third phase is rather juxtaposed to the first one. You're just so incredibly content doing nothing and spacing out, that you may not want to be disturbed. It's like a trance state. My theory is that one experiences theta-wave patterns. This, then, gives way to a very relaxed feeling, which can actually make you go to bed earlier than usual if it's already late at night. Overall, it's amazing. But one still needs to exercise caution. As I said, you'll feel the buzz quickly, but the REAL high hits you hard in waves (usually one or two) after you're done smoking. Take controlled hits, and trust that it'll do its job. Believe me, it will!
