I'm a big fan of 3C Farms flowers, and their OGs deliver the goods -- they've been working with these genetics since the 90s and know what they're about. My jar of Kushushima was mostly comprised of two giants nugs, and you could see the care they put it into this plant, from the lovely structure to the thick layer of frost, to the perfect hand-trim and cure. Scent is dank pine and gassy funk, with a hint of sour lime. Same for the palate -- it's a delicious strain to vape. Finally, the effects deliver that meditative, calm-yet-focused effect that characterizes most OGs, but I'd say this particular cut leans even more into the sedative, heavy side of the experience. Perfect for unwinding in the eve, and I find I can sleep super easily on it, if that's what I'm after -- but probably too stoney for daytime use. Heavy indica users may disagree, of course, but if you're a lightweight, watch your step -- Kushushima is straight nuclear.
This review is for Nameless Genetics' strain watermelon, which may be different than the Indica version listed here on Leafly. It's more often labeled as a sativa-dominant hybrid 'round these parts, but then, you can't really trust most dispensaries' menus (but that's drama for another time and place).
So here's the dilly. I scored this medicine from Green Wolf in LA, having heard great things about Nameless's work, and it turns out the hype is REAL, brothers and sisters.
The nugs are light, lime green, not too dense (which also makes me think this isn't an indica), totally covered in crystalline frost and perfectly trimmed & cured. The aroma is maybe the best I've ever encountered-- a blend of ripe banana peel and watermelon candy with the tiniest hint of spice in the background... It's quite literally like opening a pouch of Watermelon Big League Chew on a summer afternoon. Seriously, you will keep returning to the jar just to sniff this one, like a spun out truffle pig. Your significant other will worry that maybe you're taking this "weed thing" too far. But you know what? This shit smells like magical candy. It's bud fit for a Hufflepuff slumber party, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
ANYWAY. Flavor-wise, the watermelon is still totally present when vaped, but it's joined by other more familiar OG-type flavors of pine and citrus. It's tasty-- SUPER tasty, in fact-- but I think it smells even better than it smokes (or vapes, in my case).
The effects are a unique and satisfying blend of weed's best qualities, with a sativa-like jolt of energy and euphoria at the onset (pressure around the eyes, giggles, goofiness) followed by relaxation and pain relief, with a trancey mental state. It's good and strong, but not "heavy" feeling-- I was able to dose repeatedly and stay functional until bedtime, at which point the body high eased me into a peaceful slumber. You get the benefits of a sativa-type rush without any of the raciness or insomnia that some flowers stick you with.
All in all, I consider this world class stuff. The scent, flavor and effects are all top notch, and between this and the Mega Wellness I tried recently, Nameless Genetics are doing incredible work. If you're in SoCal, do yourself a favor and track down some of their flower...
Purchased from Cannabal City Collective in DTLA, a truly awesome collective... Almost all their stuff is grown in-house from 3C genetics but this Bubba is the rare exception. It was a "harvest season" special, bred by friends of the grow team, and I felt like mixing it up with a straight Indica. Plus, I'd never tried this classic strain and sweet baby Buddha on a pork chop did Bk deliver!
Nugs are dense and round, dark forest green with a plethora of umber hairs. Cure's a bit dryer than I like, but it breaks up nice and sticky.
On the nose, there's a hint of pine-lemon from the OG genetics, but with a distinctive sweet side, almost like Smarties candies. Not the deep fuel scent I associate with OG Kush, it's lighter and more "sparkly" for lack of a better word. Flavor is hashy and heavy, with a strong pine and coffee backbone when vaped. Not the most impressive aroma, and just tasty enough, but that's not where Bk shines... Instead, it's all about the--
Effects: I've been smoking a decent amount lately, and have developed a medium tolerance as a result. Bubba was a legit one-hit-quit for me. The effects are instant and strong and VERY much felt in the body. Total relaxation sweeps over you, thoughts become meditative, the mind a zen blank. Since I've been vaping a lot of sativa/hybrids lately, the lack of racing thoughts and energy was quite distinct-- this is the kind of medicine that kills stress, anxiety and insomnia with sledgehammer blows.
Me personally, I wouldn't administer Bubba during the day, or on a night where I feel like getting things done before bed. But when you need to cure aches, pains and troubled thoughts, or just want a great night's sleep, this is one of the best strains I've come across. Really delivers a true indica experience, and worth having in the medicine cabinet at all times... the Bubba's a legend for good reason.
As other reviewers have noted, this right here is the real deal.
Smell: louder than Neil Young's Crazy Horse rig feeding back inside the grand canyon.
Flavor: Pillowy puffs of pine and fuel finish with a Sprite/7Up tingle of sweetness of the lips.
Effects: one hit launches you skyward, like one of those catapult rides outside a gaudy Vegas hotel. After liftoff evens out, expect a super relaxing body buzz that numbs pain and eases anxiety, allowing supreme clarity and focus. Just don't overdo it if you expect to get things done-- the potency is no joke.
A straight up, 5-star SoCal classic!
Bought a couple grams of this from New Amsterdam Naturals in Los Angeles-- awesome co-op, highly recommend their selection of connoisseur buds. This particular strain is bred by Cannabiotix, and it's probably the terpiest flower I've encountered to date. Cracking the jar on this nasty gal is like opening a tub of Strawberry Lemonade Crystal Light, and instantly transported me to the kitchen of my childhood home, where I'd whip CL up along with a quesadilla before bingeing on cartoons 'til my folks came home. A lot of strains rock tantalizing names these days, but few deliver with such accuracy-- Cannabiotix killed it with this one.
Nugs are spongy little Christmas trees, various shade of Earth green wrapped in bright orange hairs and featuring a truly stunning amount of crystals. It was impossible to tamp the bowl down with my finger, the bud was so resinous and sticky it would cling to my skin and leap out like a monkey trying to escape the barrel. Sick.
Flavor, when vaped at low-medium temp, is equally impressive. Deep lemon on the exhale, with strawberry notes fluttering around the edges. Again, I'm transported back to my cartoons, sipping on a citrus drink forged from mysterious powder technology. Hot damn. Or should I say, cold, refreshing damn... Seriously some of the tastiest bud I've ever inhaled.
Effects-wise, this is a moderate, head-first kinda ride. Sativa for sure, but not too racy. Made the visuals pop on Horizon Zero Dawn, made an episode of Planet Earth super silly-- the dance of the mountain flamingoes!-- and provided a nice relaxed buzz without inducing couch-lock. If you're looking for that headbanger boogie OG shit that'll turn you into a comatose Smurf, this ain't it. But if you're looking to kick back and chill while maintaining your wits, this would make an excellent choice. Also pairs well with music and creative pursuits-- and it won't inhibit sleep like some sativas. After a couple hours my body was fully relaxed and ready for the Sandman to bless me... hopefully with dreams about scoring more of this sweet herb.
tldr: Not the most potent, but certainly some of the tastiest bud ever. Well played, Cannabiotix, well played!
Purchased in flower form from downtown LA's Cannabal City Collective (a spot I highly recommend), this is 3C Farms' take on Gorilla Glue #4, and the frosted, fluffy nugs definitely express major diesel fumes and flavor on the palate. I'm not sure why such a chemical-drenched flavor is enticing, but it is, and it's certainly unique among the usual piney Kush and sour fruit varieties populating shelves.
Effects were immediate and strong out of a vaporizer... Sasquatch Sap begins with a buzzy, sativa head high (smiles, pressure around the forehead and cheekbones) but then settles into a kind of meditative, relaxed body buzz. I wouldn't say I was glued to the couch-- I think the "Glue" part of this strain refers to how sticky* it is-- but I did feel fantastically mellow, and the latter half of the high was perfect for watching movies and de-stressing.
To sum up, this is a great strain for stress, anxiety or just unwinding after a long day. But it's not a lazy strain, either, and I'm looking forward to trying it with a workout-- the energy boost on the front end and the relaxation afterward seem like they'd be the perfect pairing. Highly recommend!
*Oh yeah, it's REALLY sticky. Like it was physically difficult to grind, even though my batch was perfectly cured. Intense.
Fluffy, bright green nugs with classic sativa bud structure... This strain was one of my first purchases after getting my medical card, and while the aroma and taste are top notch-- it really does smell like strawberries, and tastes like a slightly underripe one with a hint of menthol-- the high was pretty mild. I consider myself a lightweight, but even after quite a few rips from my vape, SC stayed pretty mellow, with a slight rush of cerebral energy and very little body buzz to speak of...
I don't know if this batch is just on the lighter end of the THC spectrum or what, but I'd consider this SC a day time, get-shit-done type of strain that pairs well with outdoor activities and might even make boring errands enjoyable. I'd like a little more body/pain relief to even out the head shift, but if you're into Sativas and don't want to go too racy or wild, Strawberry Cough is a solid choice.
First Time Patient as of yesterday and this is the best collective I've been to yet. Love the house-grown strains, the staff was friendly and respectful, sign-in process was easy breezy, and the FTP deal was outrageous. In addition to a free gram of flower I got to spin the wheel and scored a free eighth! Ended up getting an absurd deal on what looks to be (and so far, IS) some truly top-notch flower. A high class operation, I'd recommend anyone in driving distance of DTLA give Cannabal City a shot.
