Death Star

12/23/2015
So, it seems to taste like wet cardboard in my vape, but it messed me right the shiz up! STRONG! Lots of both indica/sativa effects with a glowing body buzz and some crazy "stoner thoughts" over the top of that. The thing that seems particular to this strain is the massive amount of "relaxation". I felt very, very cool with everything happening. If you don't mind that it tastes like crap, this is a good way to get obliterated. Would not recommend for low-tolerance people or beginners ... I toke every day and this blew my candle out!

Five Zero Trees West

After you hand your ID to the person behind the enormous hardwood tree-slab desk and take a seat in their ski-lodge like waiting area, you have an equal chance of being greeted by a super friendly, burly, bearded bud bro or an equally charming bud betty in a beanie. They will take you into their magical wood-paneled room and its large selection of excessively crystalled nugs in fishbowl-sized jars. They have a good variety here, but the strongest suit at Five Zero Trees seems to be quality. Every last gram I have gotten from here has been top grade. If somebody came into town and said "Show me your best cannabis, sir" this is where I would take them. Some tips: just like everyplace else, their best stuff has a tendency to run out, so be sure to stock up if you find a new favorite. Also, check out their little pre-roll bin on the counter, it seems like they put the newest strains in there and you can grab a sample of something fun that way. Thanks, Five Zero!

Lemon Kush

Picked up a little here in PDX and I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. A lot of hybrids start out with that sativa "whee! I'm derpy" and then finish up with the indica "let's watch a movie and eat cookies" mode, but with this strain it seemed like that "drop" was really severe. One minute I was talkin' crazy thoughts, the next I couldn't move and just wanted to play video games. Then I'd smoke a little more, and get derpy again, and then crash down again. It's almost like this strain had "does not play well with others" on its report card. The taste is also like lemon pledge, which I guess might be just the thing if you like it, but I found it to be chemically and annoying. Definitely gets the job done, but I wouldn't purchase it again!

Chernobyl

Wonderful lime flavor in a vape. Sometimes also a hint of cherry. Sets up a little slow, but then it gives you the tickles for hours. Has a little "uplift" to it, but not as super energetic as some other sativas. The flavor/smell of lime is really a treat if you're in the mood for it.

Stone Age Farmacy - Beaverton

This lovely boutique is two blocks up the street from me, so I am a constant customer. Truly the highest quality bud in here: hard, resinated, beautiful nugs. You will pay a little extra, but when you smoke that stuff, you will know why. The staff are the happiest, healthiest and friendliest ladies you will ever meet. Selection is maybe a little limited compared to some of the superstores out there, but they seem to be expanding it. Definitely recommended to the cannabis epicure, or someone looking for something special.

Obama Kush

It's very close to purps, but as mentioned elsewhere seems variably skunky. A lot of uplifting euphoria and giddiness is the beginning, but then later you get sort of "dumped off" in the indica stupor zone. I'm an indica man and that's totally cool with me, but if you don't like being unable to operate your brain, you might not like it. At that point though, I find it mixes very well with a sparkly sativa like Jack Skell or Sour Diesel. In fact, Sour D and Obama Kush go very well together all around, probably my fave 1/8 & 1/8 combo.
