Harlequin

2/7/2016
A wonderful day-time bud, especially if you suffer from any kind of chronic pain yet need to get some creative/intellectual/physical work done. The variant I purchased was titled "Harly OG," and I don't know whether any of its characteristics differ from those with the more typical "Harlequin" labels out there, but it certainly gets the job done! I wouldn't call this strain a strict Sativa, though; it feels a lot more like a hybrid, given that its Sativa THC percentage is so low, and its high CBD content alleviates anxiety issues often caused by strong Sativa strains. My only gripe is that this strain does leave you a little foggy and head-heavy, so if you're planning to take Harlequin before work, it may slow you down bit ( this is the only reason I'm giving this strain 4 stars instead of 5). All in all, a great CBD-rich strain, either used alone or--my favorite--mixed with a pure night-time, pain-free, sleepyhead indica.

GSC

10/27/2015
Much like Blue Dream, GSC is a popular, versatile strain, great in small doses for a buzzy green day or in slightly larger doses for a deeply relaxing yet stimulating evening. Sometimes, this strain can be a bit too psychoactive for me, given the strength of its Durban Poison parent. Unless you purchase a sun-grown variety, GSC strains can be generally high on the THC potency scale. So yes, for more controlled hydroponic variants, a little goes a long way. Baking, however, is the best use of this strain - by far! They don't call it "Girl Scout Cookies" for nothing; grind it, weigh it, and mix it into your brownie mix or cookie dough batter. The flavor blends particularly well with rich, dense baked goods, lending them a very mild and unassuming hint of cannabis without overpowering the edible's natural flavor. What's more, if consumed in edible form, digestion takes the potentially-strong Sativa edge off, turning your baked goods into wonderful after-dinner desserts.

Cat Piss

9/22/2015
A very mellow, gentle smoke, Cat Piss takes the edge off without anxiety or heavy cerebral effects. This strain is certainly uplifting, but for a sativa dominant strain (or at least the sun-grown variant I purchased), I found it to possess qualities more heavily associated with hybrids. It is a very mild sativa, whose relatively lower THC content provides tranquilizing, socially pleasant, giggly effects. Don't let the name scare you off; it is skunky, earthy, spicy, and even a little sweet, but it doesn't smell bad at all. The aroma most reviewers detect comes primarily from its parent, Skunk #1. An excellent quality strain.

Sour Diesel

Invigorating, energetic, and uplifting but not anxiety-inducing at all. A very relaxing, yet functional, choice great for day time use (or an early afternoon pick-me-up). A pungent citrus aroma, accompanied by earthy notes, accompany a rather thick, strong smoke. Cotton mouth and stuffiness might set in fast, but the pros outweigh the cons on this one. SD is one of the few sativas that deliver the energy without the negative effects of anxiety. Great for pain and stress, too. This one's top shelf.

Berry White

9/17/2015
One of the first things you'll notice when smoking Berry White is its smooth, sweet and tangy flavor. Its mild and pleasant aroma compliments a similarly harsh-free smoke. Its indica properties are certainly present, but they also lean into the hybrid span of the spectrum, offering stimulating cerebral effects while soothing the body of anxiety and pain. I don't think I'd recommend it for insomnia-relief (other hard-hitting heavy indica strains, like Romulan or Purple Urkle are better suited for such a task). This is a social indica, probably best suited for relaxed conversation. In fact, it also allows for great focus, so more solitary, concentrated work is not necessarily off-the-table either. One of my favorites, especially because it combines great flavor, with great smoke, with great feeling. Give this one a try!

Granddaddy Purple

9/17/2015
Earthy, fruity, chocolatey, and spicy, GDP packs a flavorful smoke. Its effects are tranquilizing, and relaxing; I find it great for pain, spasms, and insomnia. As much as I enjoyed it, however, I also felt a sense of heightened cerebral activity and mild tension that offset the otherwise heavy indica feeling I was expecting. In actuality, the phenotype of GDP I tried felt closer to a hybrid (but I'm not sure how much variance there is within the grower community). Still, the pros outweigh this minor cons on this one. A must-try bud. Very tasty and deeply relaxing.

Romulan

9/17/2015
The flavor profile for this strain is spot-on! The moment you inhale, a rush of earthy pine pleasantly surprises the taste buds, and the moment you exhale, a woody, almost campfire-smelling, aroma engulfs the senses. As for Romulan's effect, it's very mellow, very relaxing, very calming. Great for anxiety, stress, muscle pain, and insomnia. Along with Afgooey, this is one of my all-time favorite strains. Perfect for winding down after a long day. Highly recommend Platinum Romulan if you can find it.

Blue Dream

9/17/2015
A very balanced hybrid: relaxing yet uplifting. For this reason, perhaps, it's also highly adaptable, i.e., it can be used during the day or at night, depending on your plans. This pleasant versatility is probably one of the main reasons Blue Dream is so popular. Personally, I prefer it for day time use, not only because some sativa-dominant phenotypes can cause a bit of anxiety, but also because I like a stronger indica-dominant hybrid (or straight-up indica powerhouse like Afgoo or Romulan) for calming, sleepy-time goodness.

Afgooey

Afgooey delivers deep, muscle-melting relaxation, together with a giddy, giggly, low-stress euphoric high. A wonderful mixture of uplifting (but not energetic) and mellow (but not couch-locked) properties. This one is probably my #1 personal favorite.
