Nightmare Cookies

2/23/2021
Technically, I'm giving this one 4.5 stars. She's passive/aggressive; she kicks like a mule, then kisses your booboos away. And I mean that in the best possible way. GSC is my favorite strain so I'm always looking to try her children. Well, I stumbled upon a CBD-dominant batch of Nightmare Cookies, so I just HAD to try it. CBD-dominants are pretty rare around here, at least on the rec market. The dispensary I got this from doesn't even keep the jar out front, the budtender had to go dig in the back room. I'm thinking of getting a med card just because of that, but I wanted to try a CBD-dominant before I spent the money. I've been dying to try one, and last night I finally did. This crop has a 2:1 ratio (6.29% THC, 12.64% CBD). I'm a major lightweight, I've been vaping some GSC lately that sits at 21.5% and I only need two small hits to feel good. Of course, I'm not looking to get bombed, I just want to kill my chronic pain and calm down my mind. But if I did want to get wasted I wouldn't need more than 1, maybe 2, full long pulls of that GSC to lock me down for a few hours. When I went to take my first hit of the Nightmare Cookies I didn't hold back as much as I normally do. I'm well aware of the entourage effect, but I didn't think they would play off of each other THAT hard. Wowee. And it smokes different, too. The CBD requires a lower temp (iirc) so the cloud my little one-setting budget pocket vape produced took me completely by surprise. It was at least twice as thick as the GSC clouds (thin clouds aren't always a bad thing, but it did mean the flavor of the NC was far stronger and more complex). I knew something was different as soon as I sucked the vapor into my mouth, it was that big of a difference. Since I vape I'm used to the creeper effect. With the GSC I usually wait at least a few minutes between pulls. That wasn't necessary with the NC. I knew right after the exhale that I was all set. She's fast and furious, so much so I did have a small panic attack. Blue Dream is the only other strain I've tried that has set me off like that, so I imagine that's where that came from. Still, NC is only distantly related to BD, so the anxiety wasn't nearly as intense and it was far easier to push through it. Also, I didn't include "anxious" in my effects list because it's not the plant's fault. My panic attacks are tied to an incident where I overdosed on crack so badly I almost died. Even Tylenol can set me off. I'm the problem, not the strain. I had some mild visuals during the first 10 minutes (dark, blurry shapes) but that could've been from my blood pressure adjusting or my PTSD acting up. Considering that it went away fairly quickly I think it was a fluke. I ended up with a heavy body high and a very light head high. It was almost like I was only half stoned (which is exactly what I was shooting for). It affected my mind, but it only altered my senses and perception a bit. The most obvious mind effect was a dramatic increase in my ability to focus. Once I locked onto something I was like a dog with a bone. My mind is usually very scattered and disorganized, so that's a huge plus. It also mildly boosted my energy. I didn't want to sit down so I paced around the kitchen while scrolling through Reddit. It wasn't that I was antsy, I just felt good enough to move around. I have permanent injuries in both of my knees and my left hip, so me not wanting to sit down is a good sign. Bodily, it had a mild dissociative effect. Everything from my neck down went numb, it just shut off the nerves. No tingles, no zaps, it felt kind of like my soul had receded a little deeper into my body than where it normally sat, making it more impervious. I could sense pressure and touch, but pain was a myth and my sense of temperature was significantly reduced (which was nice because it got cold last night). I banged my worst knee against a chair, the only reason I noticed it was because I heard the thud. If I had been sober it probably would've brought tears to my eyes. Many of the other nerve-blocker strains/batches I've tried have backfired, causing a particular injury to amplify or generating tingles that are so intense they start to hurt. This one didn't do that at all. This is one of those rare ones that gave me all the benefits and none of the side effects. Obviously this batch being CBD-dominant means my experience will be slightly different from someone who smokes a THC-dominant crop, but not by much. There's definitely a lot of overlap between my review and many of the others. And that's why I confidently recommend Nightmare Cookies to anyone looking for pain relief, heightened productivity, and a chatty, social high, regardless of its cannabinoid profile. I also recommend that EVERYONE try a balanced or CBD-dominant batch at least once. It's a whole new experience. I can't guarantee that everyone will like it (because that would be impossible) but it's still worth the effort, especially if you've already been smoking for a long time. I started smoking 20 years ago, I've never felt a high like the one I had last night.
