Marley Natural Black Walnut Bubbler

3/29/2017
Don't own one, but have used one a few times. Nice that it breaks apart for cleaning. I worry about properly cleaning wood while avoiding water. That said, it sure is elegant! Smoked well. Not buying one any time soon - partially because of price tag, partially because of wood.

PAX 2 - Charcoal

3/29/2017
Not knowing much about portable vapes, I fell for the aesthetics of the sleek, elegant PAX 2. It was like getting swept up by an iPod mini in 2005. Even after getting recommendations for less expensive models, I was set on the PAX. When the local smoke shop posted a sign about a price drop to $199.99, I decided I should get an early birthday present. So, this is my first and only portable flower vape. Here's what I like: won't spill if you set it on your bed and get ash everywhere like a bowl. Several temp settings can stretch your flower. Chamber can be small if passing among friends, but good for solo or duo sessions. (I have the Topaz color and it's so pretty. ) Battery life is good, I can never remember the last time I charged it, though don't use it as my primary piece. Here's what I don't like: the tapered mouthpiece gets way too hot, my lips feel like they're burning. I prefer the functionality of the tapered piece, but use the flat because it's just uncomfortable to feel burning. The screen can be very annoying to replace after cleaning it.

Black Cherry Soda

I open the bag and take a sniff of this Black Cherry Soda. It's earthy and sweet. After I grind and pack it in my bowl, it smells a bit sweeter, kind of like a root beer. When I take a puff I can taste a sweet, berry note. It feels like a fizzy, bubbly, tingle creeping up my spine, through my shoulders, down my arms and into my fingertips. The weight of the world is lifted. I feel the urge to stretch my arms up over my head and twist side to side. I find myself doing yoga poses instead of writing this review and... it feels great. I don't typically go for body highs, but this would be nice when feeling tense or after a night of dancing. Not very cerebral. Relaxed, but not sleepy. I could still be social. Nice hybrid.

Maui Wowie

3/11/2017
Not gonna lie, I picked it up because I heard the song "Maui Wowie" by Kid Cudi years ago and always sing that in my head when I see the name. Thought it might be time to try it myself. When I finally picked it up, I was pleasantly surprised to find one of my now-favorite strains. Listening to music becomes even more pleasurable, feeling upbeat, maybe giggly and contemplative in a "everything is great" sorta way. I haven't been to Hawaii yet, but if this is what it feels like, I can't wait to go!

This is a good strain to use if you want to think everything is beautiful and dig deep into all the ways life is a gift. Euphoria! Thoughts are going a mile a minute and digging deep into concepts. Hard to finish a task because I keep starting new ones. But starting a lot of 'em. Hard to focus because everything is fascinating... Good for the heart :)

Origins - West Seattle

The displays are organized by mood/effect, are set up to look very lovely. I will hand it to merchandising, it looks great! Wish pricing was more apparent, the teeny tiny font in each display and no labels near products means playing a match game to figure out how much a strain costs. The good news is the budtenders are very nice and will explain pricing/effects/offer suggestions. At the same time, they will probably try to upsell you even if you tell 'em you want to spend X amount. Just make it clear you will not spend more than you came in to spend and you'll be fine.

Canna West Seattle

I live only a 9 minute walk away and decided I'd check it out because they had Strawberry Mango Haze on the menu. I've been wanting a mango haze strain and was happy to find it nearby on Leafly. Cute, small shop with friendly budtenders and nice product presentation. I don't always check the Leafly menu and I like to browse; it'd be nice if product displays showed pricing. I feel really silly for not having gone in sooner than tonight. Impressively large menu in a little spot, they carry a variety of growers/edibles I like and pricing is great. Will definitely be back!

Forbidden Cannabis Club - Seattle

The door dudes are always friendly. Some of the budtenders are awesome at giving personalized recommendations, and others are still learning, but everyone has a great attitude. Dig the neighborhood vibe -- it's very Central District; I usually have a short exchange with at least the door guy if not other customers. Bummed I didn't make it to their joint rolling workshop... You get decent quality for a good price, happy hour (12-4:20) and usually some cheap options if ya just don't wanna spend a lot. Since they opened, the selection has gotten better, staff is friendly and atmosphere is always improving. (Also, there is a ymca down the block and laundromat/liquor store/post office the next block over so you can really get a lot done in one spot and stop at the neighbor lady for a drink because you accomplished a lot today.)

Dockside Cannabis in SODO

9/15/2016
My first visit to Dockside can be fully encapsulated by the word "happy." I went for the 1 year bday party (which featured a a vinyl-spinnin' dj w/some good music & free cupcakes at 4:20)! I like the menu display (with effects) so you can scope the selection before getting in line. Love the display in the middle of the store with displays (like the PAX) to browse at my leisure. The ATM was down; we were offered a discount for walkin' to the bank down the block. It was really busy, but the budtenders were still answering questions, offering suggestions and keepin' it friendly while moving the line quickly. Very welcoming (I mean...I spent the whole day there), yet efficient. Best o' both worlds....and I can buy cannabis, too? Suh-weeeet. And it's reasonably priced at various tiers? Even better!
