Frankly, two years of isolation, stress and lockdowns have been a wet blanket on the fires of my libido and I am not alone. Luckily, thanks to some arousing weed products, folks like myself are reclaiming their sex drives during another long Covid winter.

So what is the best weed to have amazing sex with?

Wouldn’t it be nice if it were that simple? I would love someone to say “Use X product, in X place, and wait X minutes for the best orgasm you’ve ever had in your life.”

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to weed and sex, just like there is no one type of sex. Keep it safe, consensual, and enjoy the process of finding what cannabis products help get you in the mood and elevate a sexual experience.

From Playboy to sexpert pothead

To find out where to start when experimenting with sex and cannabis, Leafly talked to Adult Entertainment star and OnlyFans model Jenna Bentley, who is also known for her work in Playboy and Maxim.

Bentley has worked in the Adult Entertainment industry since the early 2000s. She moved into the Playboy Bunny House at 18 in 2007, during the height of the Mansion’s popularity amidst the reality TV boom.

While not showcased in the hit reality show “Girls Next Door,” Bentley was there when girlfriends Bridget, Holly, and Kendra were leaving and soon-to-be wifey Crystal was moving in.

Originally from small-town Montana, Bentley learned a lot about sex, drugs, and parties during her tenure at Playboy and describes life there as a coming-of-age story. But she didn’t discover her love of cannabis until years later when medical cannabis helped her get off opioids and benzodiazepine.

An unexpected benefit of her cannabis consumption? Better orgasms! And let’s be real, who doesn’t want better orgasms (and more of them)?

“For me, the orgasm is so much more intense and I actually have more of them,” says Bentley. “Before [cannabis], I probably wouldn’t have an orgasm at all. Or if I did, it would be with a partner I was with for like five years.”

Bentley’s favourite arousing strains

Like sex, choosing the right weed strain can be a highly personal experience. While experiences vary from person to person, there are specific strains known for their arousing effects.

Different methods of consumption also affect how we feel each strain, making experimentation like your own home-based case study.

“I’m still in the experimenting stages,” Bentley explains. “So I’m trying everything. It’s like, ‘Let’s do this and this and see how the orgasm is.’ It’s like trial and error; I’m doing my own test case study.”

“Orgasms and marijuana both relieve stress for me. You know, it’s a win-win!”

For many, the most common and approachable way to get lit and get laid is to smoke or vape cannabis flower. The same strain can have different physical effects depending on if you smoke or vape it, or make it into an edible.

“It’s almost like you get a different feeling from every format, whether it’s an edible, a bong hit, or a blunt,” says Bentley. “Once, after a hit on my Volcano, it was like having sex on clouds and I was in like a different dimension. It was the coolest thing.”

GSC

Terpenes: caryophyllene, linalool, myrcene

One of Bentley’s go-to cultivars for a romp is Girl Scout Cookies (GSC). The strain is indica-leaning and known for its euphoric effects and full-body relaxation. It’s high in terpenes caryophyllene and linalool.

GSC is famous for its pungent, dessert-like aroma and flavour profile featuring bold notes of mint, sweet cherry, and lemon.

“[After GSC] I’m just able to enjoy the moment, really being in the moment and just enjoying yourself,” says Bentley. “I’ve noticed that both of us find out new things about each other. There’s always kind of something new to explore.”

Gorilla Glue (GG#4)

Terpenes: myrcene, caryophyllene, limonene

Bentley admits to having quite a THC tolerance, so it’s no surprise her second choice for getting busy is the heavy-hitting Gorilla Glue.

This cultivar is known to be relaxing, euphoric, and enhances happy vibes. The experience starts before you even imbibe, with pungent, earthy nugs filling the room with its sour diesel aroma.

Strains high in THC can create a warm body high perfect for creating intimacy within oneself. It can help to unleash creativity, as well as both set the mood for understanding your wants and needs within the bedroom, and set the initiative to act on those desires.

Things to consider beforehand:

What kind of sex are you having? Solo, intimate, kinky AF?

Are you looking for a certain effect? Head high, body buzz?

Does your weed need time to kick in? Some topicals and edibles need time for optimal effects.

Indicas have a reputation for their in-da-couch vibes, which can be channelled for slower lovemaking sessions. Complement that relaxed glow by choosing a strain that’s also high in CBD to provide extra mental stimulation and uplifting properties to help build intimacy and fantasies.

Morning sex is fun and perfectly paired with a CBD strain for energizing as well as uplifting properties so you can go about your day like the boss that you are.

“During the day and with new partners, I throw CBD in the mix,” says Bentley. She explains that while that “whoa” factor from THC is great during sex, Bentley also enjoys the extra relaxation CBD provides.

“It gives a different feel. I am super calm and able to be super balanced. I can’t explain it, but it’s awesome.”

Eager for even more suggestions? Here are some editor picks to try.

Tantalizing topicals? We gotchu (literally) covered

Unlike strains, topicals create localized effects that make them great for sex, sensual massages, and partners who might not be down with THC. (Remember, consent and respecting boundaries is always sexy.) Not only are topicals great for massage, they also show potential for women’s health and sexual dysfunction.

“I’m able to do a lot more positions and things with the topicals. How it affects my sex life is kind of hard to explain,” shares Bentley. “But when you feel loose, good, comfortable—it just makes for a better experience, better rhythm, and just a better experience all around.”

Cannabis lubes are all the rage, but it’s important to understand the different types available. Finding a water-based lubricant is important if you are using condoms. Oil-based options are great for sensual massage and external use, but they aren’t typically condom compatible.

Topicals like lubricants, suppositories, oils, and creams are an accessible entry point for consumers looking to combine sex and weed. They can be THC-free and used for foreplay, baths, or the main event.

Suppositories do not sound sexy, but hear me out: they provide cannabinoids targeted specifically for vaginal and rectal use. Personally, after using suppositories for period-related pain, I noticed the benefits for arousal and sex. I am not alone: Bentley had a male partner try suppositories and he noticed prostate stimulation.

“I made [my] partner try suppositories because I was too nervous, And he loved it!” Bentley shares. They weren’t doing anything specific to that area, but he still felt the sensation “like a tickle” and intensified his orgasm.

Bonus: best gummies for sex

Very few things can compare to the body buzz of an edible, which, in my opinion, is very compatible with sexual experiences. Give these sultry soft chews a try to amplify your next romp.
