How to Redeem the Magic-Flight Launch Box Power Adapter Warranty

Published on March 26, 2018 · Last updated July 28, 2020

The Magic-Flight Launch Box was my first portable cannabis vaporizer. I continued to love my Magic-Flight Box to the point that I was obligated to get the Power Adapter 2.0. The Magic-Flight’s two rechargeable batteries just didn’t have enough juice to satiate my appetite for cannabis consumption, so naturally the AC adapter, whose fit and finish matched my MFB to a T, was a no-brainer.

Made in the US, Magic-Flight is a vaporizer and vaporizer accessory company out of San Diego, CA with an excellent warranty on all its hardware. This was good news because I had used my handy-dandy AC adapter into dysfunction over approximately 10 months of daily enjoyment. But warranties are not always easy to redeem, so here’s my step-by-step guide to sorting out your Magic-Flight warranty—specifically for the Power Adapter 2.0.

Step-by-Step Guide to Redeeming Your Magic-Flight Warranty

After purchasing the adapter, activate your warranty, then stow your box and manual together somewhere safe. When it comes time to redeem your warranty, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Find your hardware (AC adapter in this case), your manual, and log on to Magic-Flight’s contact page.

Step 2: Click “Submit a Warranty Claim” and fill in the required information. Your serial number is on your hardware, and you can find the wood grain type on the box it came in (or on the Magic-Flight website). Be sure to double-check your information.

Step 3: Take one photo of the serial number (found etched into the hardware) and one photo of the issue or affected area. Email these to yourself and attach them to the Magic-Flight Warranty Claim form. (These images cannot be screenshots and they cannot be edited.)

Step 4: Write an explanatory description of your problem in the “Subject” and “Message” fields. Here’s mine for example:

Dear MFB,

I would first like to thank you for the ethos behind your products. It is important for companies in the cannabis space to stand for something, especially something as important as the environment. Secondly, I would like to thank you for your lifetime warranty. With the disposable mindset of today, it is important to see companies standing by the products they create.

The problem(s):
After many enjoyable sessions, the button and hand-piece stopped conducting electricity. Whether this is a short/break in the internal mechanism or worn out wire or connection in the cord, I do not know. All I know is I’m no longer able to utilize my AC adapter with my Magic-Flight Box.

Please let me know if I can supply you with any more photos or information to illustrate my point. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Kindest Regards,
Jeremiah Wilhelm

Step 5: Double-check your info and send the email.

You will receive an automated response, and an MFB consultant should contact you within the next business day.

Here is the email I received the next day.

Hi Jeremiah!

Thanks for reaching out to us here at Magic-Flight, and for the lovely feedback. It means a lot to us 🙂

We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your Power Adapter 2.0. Please help us troubleshoot so that we can pinpoint the issue and create a solution for you.

  1. Does the green LED light on the wall plug come on?
  2. Does your Launch Box work with stock batteries?
  3. Sometimes, if the heat dial is turned up too high at the moment the PA 2.0 is first turned on, this can temporarily disable the unit. This is because the energy required to heat the “cold” screen of your Box is at peak demand when the button is first pressed. Lowering the heat dial initially greatly reduces this spike of energy.

Could you try and test for this? (A) Set the heat dial all the way down until the Launch Box screen has heated up a bit, and then (B) turn the heat dial gradually up higher.

Your Power Adapter has a lifetime functional warranty, so we’ll ensure you have a fully functional unit, no matter what. Let us know if this helps. We want you to be thrilled with your Box and Power Adapter, so don’t hesitate to let us help create a solution if you continue to experience any loss of performance.

With kind regards,

Kelli

I followed Kelli’s instructions and tested each piece of my MFB and adapter. I took coordinating photos to corroborate my findings, leaving no doubt that I was truly experiencing technical malfunctions. Documenting your progress (or lack thereof) is very important when redeeming a warranty.

I crafted another email and sent it back to the good folks at Magic-Flight. Almost 30 minutes later, Kelli replied with some helpful information regarding the nature of the warranty as well as some helpful tips on how to elongate the lifespan of the power adapter.

Also, while Magic-Flight has a great functionality warranty on its products, the power adapter has a two-unit limit on replacements.

Kelli also informed me that instead of sending the damaged adapter back to San Diego, Magic-Flight would send me a warranty replacement unit free of charge. All I needed to do was follow a few simple steps:

  1. Write your name and the date on a piece of white paper.
  2. Cut the cord from the PA housing to the battery adapter portion twice. (DO NOT cut the wall plug cord, as you will need this for your replacement power adapter.)
  3. Place the PA housing on the paper and write two random words on the body of the PA using a white or silver marker so that it is visible in the picture. Also place the battery adapter portion of the PA and the cut cord onto the paper.
  4. Take the photo (saved as a .jpg file) and attach to your reply email.
  5. Retain possession of your dismantled power adapter until after your photo has been received and your warranty has been confirmed active.

I followed Kelli’s instructions (except the use of white or silver ink) and it looked something like this:

The example Kelli sent:

While dismantling my Power Adapter 2.0 did give me a touch of anxiety, I can see why Magic-Flight would seek a physical confirmation of dysfunction to prevent warranty fraud or abuse.

One business day after sending my email, I received this final reply from Kelli:

Hi Jeremiah,

Thank you for sending all of the information needed to process your warranty. We are submitting your request today and your shipment will be sent in the mail via UPS sometime over the next 3-4 business days. You will receive a confirmation email as soon as your package ships.

Your warranty is Active and you are cleared for takeoff!! You may now discard the dismantled unit.

-Wishing you many magical flights 🙂

And just like that, my warranty is honored and my problem is solved.

While Magic-Flight made me jump through a few hoops (while documenting each step along the way), the logic behind the company’s redemption process is straightforward. We documented the issue and engaged in some topical troubleshooting that was then followed up with warranty confirmation, and finally, delivery.

Follow these simple steps and you too can enjoy the benefit of Magic-Flight’s exceptional warranty and the products it protects.
