I remember the taste of CG as if it were yesterday and I'm not sure what some of you that describe the taste of it as skunky or piney were smoking or just don't remember the taste but the actual taste and smell of CG was like that of blond Lebanese hash from that era with one hell of a lung expansion that made you cough your ass off! The high was hallucinogenic. It would put this weed today to shame. All the cross breeding f'd things up
Old timer here. I've had many strains over the years, yes including all the new hybrid stuff. I say this stuff is (was) without question the BEST stuff I ever came across! That said, the folks on here claiming they have had this recently, must have taken a trip to Colombia, because that's the only place the original stuff ever came from. The pics I see of the greenish or dark color buds are NOT the real deal, maybe from handed down seeds over the years but not what I used to get occasionally back in the mid- late 70s. Santa Marta Gold was ALWAYS a beautiful pure golden color with areas of light brown. It was marked by a very distinct pungent taste/smell similar to sandalwood or frankincense. (NOTHING SKUKY ABOUT THIS STUFF) It came in fluffy, airy buds formed with lots of tiny spotted seeds, and always fetched about 10-15 $$ more an OZ. It was only available in limited quantities and a couple times per year. The buzz was out of this world! almost like you were mildly tripping but very fun. I'd take it over ANYTHING these days, but until I see it I don't believe it exists in the states anymore, can't grow it and cure here the way the Colombians did in the highlands of Santa Marta. If you ever run across the real deal you will know it!
Shit. I smoke every day and this strain got me high for the first time in a while after two hits.
Colombian Gold is one of our favorite landrace sativa strains and for good reason.
A ingredient in the potent and 'ono (delicious) Skunk #1, Colombian Gold will knock the sweat socks off a skunk and make even a pakalolo pro pass like a punk and datz no junk...
Pua Mana 'Ohana has a very special phenotype of Colombian Gold, sourced by Masta Cylinda, and Mother of our Kona Gold hybrid with Colombian Gold: Hawaiian Mayan Gold.
Our Colombian Gold pheno smells of sweek skunk with hints of mint and lime and has been dubbed da "Mojito cut" due to her minty dome knocking disposition.
If you are interested in trying the Colombian Gold "Mojito Cut" for yourself, flower and cuts will be available to our mainland 'Ohana cultivated by the master growers @ Amazon Organics dispensary in Oregon...
We can't wait to get the test results back to see her numbers and sample what the genetic specialists of Amazon Organics do with this epic South American sativa...
I haven't smoked Columbian Gold since the clumpy shoed 👞 days of the 1970s. Back in the day, this bud was abundant in my area. It had stems, seeds, and was red/gold/brown. Not the green bud today. The last lid I bought was $35 oz. And, because it was grown among the coffee beans in Columbia, it had deep, earthy, woody notes. Now, I just smoked the Marley Natural collection, and hey, I'm impressed 😺. This strain is obviously grown in Hydroponics. So, minus the dark earth; it brings forward a slightly sweet, mellow gold taste. It has a light and uplifting high. Which may take you to introspective levels, yet carefree. I agree with another poster; it's good bud to mix with other strains.
I smoked the famous Columbian Gold strain numerous times from 1977 to 1980. It cost about $70 / Ounce and was a golden brown color. Most ounces were all medium sized buds (about 1,5 grams per bud) with few seeds. It was available widely until the drug war years. This bud came from the Santa Marta mountains of Columbia and was of high quality ~ 15% THC. It was not considered a top shelf strain (like maui waui , thai sticks, or hash). Because the price was low, I usually smoked 2 grams per session - equivalent to 2 joints. The high lasted about three - four hours and produced a heavy Sativa stone - similar to the current Haze strain. The high produced red eyes and cotton / dry mouth and caused couch lock after 3-4 hours. The high was neither speedy nor clear headed. Produced a profound aural / sonic disorientation so that familiar music sounded new and wonderful. Disrupted normal thinking - car keys were hard to find, phone numbers were forgotten, and tasks were never completed. Not particularly good for social occasions - stone was too heavy and introspective. Smoke from the buds was somewhat harsh. Will also be writing a review of the Columbian orange bud / red bud that had a very different flavor profile and high. Columbian Gold was a very good but not superb sativa. Probably as strong as many of the current strains but not as desirable as my preferred Panama Red - which was Top Shelf
and was psychedelic. The high from Acapulco Gold / Panama Red was much more desirable than the Columbian varietals.
You can definitely see the relation to the Skunk strain when you smoke the Columbian Gold. Not as strong as Skunk, but very flavorful & good smoke nonetheless. Vaporized & rolled it up. I would mainly use this strain for smoking, because it does taste good, its potent enough, and their are other varieties that would be better suited for medicine making (tincturing, salves, oil infusions, etc...).
Classic Sativa, when the medicine is working on you, it's very euphoric & energetic. Not a strain you want to use when you're trying to go to sleep, because its going to make your mind race. You'll have a lot of creative energy when you use this medicine.
Is powerful enough to relieve pain & maybe other symptoms.

BEST STRAIN EVER! #1 for sativa patients.
I've stayed off Leafly for a number of years because of extreme negative stigma from work and family. But ever since THERAPLANT released their Columbian Gold line Dahnva, it has been the best medicine for me and I owe Leafly a review and some uploads.
CG is incredible medicine. Don't fall into the prejudice that indicas provide the best pain relief. I could use CG on its own for pain, though prefer to synergize it with CBDs on days when pain and inflammation is worse.
I've had it this flower in ever form. Vape, dab, edible capsules, flower..
Anybody saying this strain is skunky or piney; you definitely didn't get true landrace CG. Landrace CG flowers smell and taste extremely light yet fruity without exception.
CG flowers are mossy citrus every time, like oranges with a hint of moss. CG dab oil is Native American hash by any other name. It smells and tastes exactly like a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Not the acidic boxed juice. And no other oil comes close to being as perfect as CG oil, especially in Connecticut, where the only legal solvents allowed are water, ice, and CO2.
The edibles made from the flower are a Native American treasure of all day relief. They've probably provided all day relief for thousands of people over hundreds of years even before colonialization.
The relief rushes in through the eyes, goes into the head, then trickles down the nervous system and lingers throughout leaving me without any grogginess. There is a pleasantly sleepy crash at the end of a CG edible 100mg or above, and edibles are definitely the best way to make use of this flower.
No wonder the Europeans thought they reached India when they made it to the Americas. The natives had similar complexion and had similar flora and canna meds. Easy mistake to make.
