Mexican strains have bad reputation because of the brick method which causes degradation on the quality and also because it contains seeds but yesterday I went to visit a friend in his restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I was telling him how good Marijuana was in Czech Republic and how it was much better than Mexican Brick Weed. He told me he had some really good Mexican Land Race Sativa grown in the mountains of Puerto Vallarta in the State of Jalisco, it is a tropical jungle next to the sea, it is a land race though I don't know if it is Oaxacan or something from the State of Jalisco, I don't think it's Acapulco Gold, I've tried Acapulco Gold and it is hallucinogenic. He told me, "Before, there were many dealers, now the big cartels eliminated them all and so now they supply the same weed, they take the best and send it abroad and leave crap, but I was able to get a hold of some producers from the mountains, this is very good natural stuff grown with tropical sun and super fertile jungle earth." I thought it would be garbage compared to the Hybrid strains and the "Cup winners" and stuff like that. When I was in Europe I was having problems finding good Sativas that would make me laugh until I discovered Durban Poison which became my favorite. But compared to this Mexican weed I smoked everything else became garbage: First of all, it was soft on the throat and lungs, we smoked it from a joint and it had an earthy smell/taste, no skunk or anything else, just earth. The effects were amazing: I couldn't stop laughing, I was crying of laughter for hours, very heady, yet somewhat clear-headed, the effect was felt on the head and stomach, my mind wasn't fucked up but also not as clear-headed as Durban Poison. It was also very friendly: 0 Paranoia. The laughter came immediately after a few tokes and the effect settled happily and comfortably, it never climbed, never escalated to something scary and uncontrollable: It stayed in the right mood for more than 2 hours. It also gave lots of happiness and creative thinking, no hallucinations compared to Acapulco Gold. Also: no dry mouth, no particularly red eyes, no headache, no paranoia. Let me repeat: no dry mouth or lips which is very strange, I had never experienced something so good and in the end after 3-4 hours you feel really sleepy and you sleep for hours, all natural! And it always felt so natural, like a natural connection to mother earth, now it seems to me as if anything that is hybridized feels slightly toxic and harmful compared to this. In fact, I think the whole point of hybridization is to produce fast high-yielding harvests adaptable to indoors and cold climates but in reality their quality and effect is just marketing, nothing compares to this, I swear. I'm sending some seeds to a friend in Czech Republic but this stuff is not meant to be cultivated indoors: they take 4 or 6 months to harvest! Legalization now!

I was never going to write a review on this but something interesting happened to me that I have to mention. I live 100 miles from the Mexican border and this was the only weed I knew. Layers of compressed shitty bud filled with seed.I grew up on it. It's been a long time since I've smoked me some Reggie so about a week ago while I was low on cash I decided to buy and ounce. ( lol 60$) This Reggie reeked of skunky lime, was quite sticky, not terribly compressed, light crystals and I have only found 2 seeds and about a 1/4 of the way through. The taste is like woody limes. The high goes straight through your head and out of the front of my face. Makes me happy and giggly, somewhat energetic. But, like the old Reggie it sometimes causes headaches and will not last long. Also very spacey, find it hard to concentrate.

Almost all Mexican Sativa strains grow in the coast of Mexico, each landrace have different flavors, smell, color and effects. The best and most famous California Sativa Hybrids and mix Sativas have Mexican Sativa origin, since 1960's us residents have taken seeds to us to grow and breed mostly in NC, the most famous one Golden Acapulco, but believe me golden Acapulco is not the best Mexican Sativa around. Most of Mexican Sativas well grown and with perfect indoor conditions are energy bombs with incredible flavors and medicinal effects. Oaxaca strains are incredible and are Sativas that produce high yield and lots of hash, as good as any Asia indica strain but with really intense high effects.

In reference to an earlier post, there are many wonderful varieties of Mexican sativa. For those of you who started on Mexican, the buzz is very unique. Mostly in the face and very very euphoric. Not all of it has a bad taste. It just depends on the person you know and how close the connection is to the border. Most of the Mexican that I have gotten has been compressed, but sometimes you can get some fat round nugs as well. Some nugs are yellow and green layered with red hairs and crystals. Sometimes you don't find any seeds at all. I have even save some of the seeds at times and re-grow the plants. They're very very beautiful and majestic plants. They have been developed and cultivated over thousands of years originating from south America. If you think about it, most of the bud at users consume today consist of Mexican sativa lineage in some way. so before putting the strain to shame, remember all the great past times you've had with the strain.

Good old classic Mexican Reggie weed. This stuff is never horrible but it's also never great. It's dry and full of seeds but .5-.7 of this will have you feeling pretty good. Can't be the general price on it either ($5 a gram $75 an ounce where I live). Good for saving money

Unfortunately the only Mexican that's really around anymore is the disgusting brick weed that is grown in mass quantities in Mexico using bad growing techniques. However I would bet if grown well it would be quite similar to landrace Acapulco Gold.

Mexican weed strain is mass produced outside mostly. A lot of plants become pollinated and become hermaphrodites which is the reason Mexican swag has seeds in it. That effects the thc levels and/or the quality of the flower. If you can get good female plants and produce some nice Mexican buds the next problem is getting it across the border. Usually, the weed is bricked then wrapped then sprayed with something to mask the smell so they can pass drug sniffing dogs. A lot of times it's ammonia and even though it's not sprayed directly on the weed it still takes on the smell and taste. I live in AZ and used to see this stuff around a lot in mid nineties. You could tell it was good at one time but by the time it got across the border it was garbage.
