A small carrying case that holds a one-hitter pipe and has a chamber with weed that is usually ground up. A dugout is a convenient, all-in-one kit that allows a smoker to pull out the one-hitter, easily pack it with bud from the chamber, and smoke while on-the-go.
“I like to bring my dugout to shows because it’s a discreet way to take a quick hit.”
What is a dugout?
Dugouts are great for active smokers. These carrying cases contain everything you need to consume cannabis on-the-go: a one-hitter pipe and a chamber with cannabis, usually pre-ground. A lot of dugouts also carry a metal poker to clean the one-hitter, and some contain small grinders as well.
Dugouts allow smokers to pack a bowl quickly and discreetly, to consume a small amount of weed. They are typically not meant for sitting down and having a long smoke session, but for taking a couple quick hits here and there while moving around and being active.
Traditionally, dugouts were made of wood, but newer dugouts are made of plastic, rubber, and all manner of non-breakable materials. Dugouts are generally very affordable and can be found online and at head shops all over the world.
How to use a dugout
Every dugout is designed slightly different, but general use is the same. Some include a grinder, but others do not. One-hitters work best with ground bud, so if your dugout doesn’t have a grinder you will want to grind up some bud and put it in the dugout’s storage chamber.
When ready to smoke, pull out the one-hitter and pack it by tamping it in the storage chamber, or tap out some ground bud into the bowl while holding the one-hitter vertical. Before smoking, angle the one-hitter up slightly so the ground weed doesn’t fall out, and put a flame to it. If it comes with a metal poker, you can clean out the one-hitter before storing it back in the dugout.
